Ethos Veterinary Health Per Diem Veterinary Technician in Wheat Ridge, Colorado

Per Diem Employee ? An employee who is available to work as needed for coverage above and beyond the full time staff members in times of need for optimal patient care. Availability requirements are established by hospital necessity and shifts may vary, including day, swing, overnight, weekend, and holidays.

Per Diem employees are NOT eligible for benefits.

This position offers the opportunity for growth within our patient care and emergency/specialty services, with the flexibility of being able to choose which available shifts work with your schedule.

About You:

  • The ability to prioritize and adapt to a fast paced, fluid environment.

  • Skilled in phlebotomy and IV catheter placement in canine and feline patients that are stable or compromised

  • Possess a good overall knowledge of disease processes, medical math, stable anesthesia and pharmacology

  • Looking to commit to at least 1 shift every month and work

  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Able to abide by hospital policies and procedures

  • Respond to hospital communication s in a timely manner

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3-4 years experience as a veterinary technician in a progressive general practice and/or 2 years in a specialty practice

  • CVT, RVT, LVT required.


Under general supervision of the Hospital Service Manager, this individual leads the clinical team with a focus on high-quality, comprehensive, accessible, supportive and personalized care for all clients and patients. Ensures adequate staffing levels support staff across designated departments in order to provide effective medical services and an optimal client experience. Serves as the liaisons between leadership and the staff. Supports and exemplifies the mission, vision and core values of the company.

This role is 75% technical and 25% administrative and is non-exempt.

Responsibilities (in addition to technical responsibilities)

  • Participates in identifying and planning for staffing consistent with needs of client population and budgetary parameters.

  • Understands workflow of the department(s).

  • Provides input with problem-solving efforts for daily operations.

  • Develops constructive and cooperative working relationships across the hospital.

  • Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, communication and cooperation among team members.

  • Advocates satisfaction of internal and external customers.

  • Serves as the hospital ?go to? in accordance with assigned duty schedule.

  • Collaborates with staff at all levels and departments to streamline delivery of services without compromising care or hospitality.

  • Participates in hiring and onboarding of staff and performance reviews.

  • Coordinates the required training and skills of staff.

  • Notifies Hospital Director of equipment service needs.

Education, License and Job Requirements:

  • Certification or licensing is required for the position.

  • 5 or more years of experience as a Veterinary Technician.

  • 3 or more years in a supervisor/managerial role.

Skills and Experience:

  • Must possess and demonstrate effective leadership qualities.

  • Ability to promote effective communication amongst team members

  • Demonstrated professionalism in all interactions

  • Proven ability to lead by example
