Description of Job

The Colorado Department of Corrections maintains prison facilities and parole offices throughout Colorado. We are building Regional Teams to assess patients and administer employee COVID-19 vaccinations. We are seeking flexible temporary employees to join our team.

Team members will be assigned to the region listed below and will travel to locations within the region selected on your application.

Northern Region - Sterling, Denver, Limon

Teams will report to the regional location on a rotating basis. Shifts and working days will vary and will include early mornings (with the possibility of occasional evenings and weekends).

This position assesses patients and administers COVID-19 vaccinations to staff located in the Northern Region. This position is responsible for:

  • Document in an accurate and timely manner;

  • Anticipate possible complications, inform employees of desired and undesirable side effects of medication and treatment;

  • Oversee a team of Licensed Practical Nurses

  • Provide standardized patient education within established nursing guidelines;

  • Preserve confidentiality.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Applicant must possess a current, valid license as a Registered Nurse from the Colorado Board of Nursing or any state participating in the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be 21 years of age;

  • Possess a high school diploma or GED;

  • Have NO felony convictions, to include any actions defined in 5 U.S.C. 301; U.S.C. 509, 510; 42 U.S.C. 15601-15609. The CDOC shall not hire nor promote anyone who may have contact with an offender who has engaged in sexual abuse which includes acts, activity, and sexual behavior, in a prison or other institution as defined in 42 U.S.C. 1997; or has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse, or has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in the above paragraph. The agency shall consider any incidents of sexual harassment in determining whether to hire anyone who may have contact with offenders or residents.

  • Work in an environment with fluctuating noise and temperature (hot and cold) which may include working outdoors in inclement weather and/or concrete floor/wall work settings;

  • TB (tuberculosis) screening is possible of all new employees upon hire.
