Heart Of The Rockies Regional Medical Center Medical Records Specialist in Salida, Colorado

Job Title:Medical Records SpecialistResponsible for all administrative and record keeping functions of the MedicalRecords Department in the hospital and clinics including: maintaining theintegrity of the paper and electronic health records through prepping,scanning, indexing/filing and retrieving patient medical records.Responsible for reviewing and responding to requests for confidential healthinformation from authorized requestors, according to established policiesand procedures, Colorado Law and the Health Insurance Portability andAccountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) regulatory guidelines. Serves as thefirst impression of the department and provides customer service support inthe reception area of the department. Specialists assigned at the clinicsfunctionally report to Clinic Manager to support the needs of the clinic.Duties:Greets walk-in customers, answers incoming calls and responds to requests.Assists requestors with the completion of authorization forms and verifiesidentification.Processes incoming mail, faxes, fax queues and other requests. Checks,responds and follows up to emails, phone calls and other correspondence daily.Monitors supply inventory and processes new orders. Maintains equipment andrequests repairs with appropriate followup. Submits IT Helpdesk and PlantOperations requests.Maintains professionalism and employs tact and courtesy at all times withpatients, physicians, visitors and co-workers. Continually strives toestablish and maintain good rapport and working relationships to fosterpositive intra and interdepartmental communications.***See employer website for complete job description***Requirements of the job:All offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of anegative drug screen test*, criminal background check, reference checks,infection prevention procedures (TB test, Flu Shot, immunizationrecords, etc.), physical capacity profile and acknowledgement of policies.Must be at least 21 years of age; EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCERequired:1. A minimum of three years of responsible business experience, preferablyin a medical records department, patient financial services department,provider practice, or other healthcare setting;2. Customer service experience.Preferred:1. Associate degree2. Completed course in medical terminology.3. Experience with electronic health recordsCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:None required.experience working in a medical records department, patient financialservice department or provider practice preferred. Customer serviceexperience preferred.Wages and how often paid:Pay is $13.22-$16.57 depending upon experience and/or qualifications.
