Humane Society Of Pikes Peak Region Animal Care Technician I in Pueblo, Colorado

POSITION: Animal Care Technician IDUTIES: Apply procedures and policies to provide for the daily needs of allanimals. This includes maintaining kennels so they are clean and sanitary,ensure appropriate feeding, identify sick or injured animals and assist inthe euthanasia process. Work cohesively with co-workers, other departmentsand volunteers. Assist the public in a professional manner.Commitment to the mission, vision, goals and success of HSPPRHandle all animals in the most humane manner possibleEnsure animals are fed appropriate food in the correct quantityClean and disinfect kennels, cages and when necessary stalls followingestablished protocolMaintain equipment used in these proceduresWash dishes, complete laundry duties, clean and maintain these areas'sfollowing proper procedure and proper equipment useResponsible for identifying health concerns for animals and followingprocedure to report information to Shelter Medicine Staff.Assist Animal Care Tech II and III with intake exams serving as runner,restrainer and all around assistant as needed.Perform daily behavior rechecks and update findings in Chameleon.May vaccinate animals as appropriate under supervision of Animal Care Tech II/ III staffAssist with transfer of animals between Pueblo and HSPPR and other shelters ifnecessaryAssist with the euthanization of animals and disposal of bodies in accordancewith euthanasia protocolRestock all items that are used daily in the kennel areaMaintain food storage, chemical storage, laundry room and food prep areain a clean, uncluttered and sanitary manner.Update animal records in computer systemCheck inventory of animals daily to ensure correct animal, correct idcollar, correct kennel card, report anyunresolved discrepancies to Team LeadersMove animal(s) approved for adoption, and ensure kennel cards areupdated and re-printed.Participate in activities to improve the animal's well being while inHSPPR's care.Communicate issues and concerns to supervisors.Participate in staff meetingsPhysical Demands: Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must bemet by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of thisjob. Specific vision abilitiesrequired by this job include close vision, distance vision, color visionand peripheral vision.Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent, previous kennel or veterinary clinicexperience desired.Wage: $12.50 per hourShift: Will be required to work weekends and holidays.
