The Occupational Health Nurse implements and monitors Employee Health policies and procedures. Promotes personal and occupational health for Hospital employees, volunteers, providers, vendors and contractors. Manages screenings and immunization programs in accordance with hospital and regulatory guidelines. Serves as the Workers Compensation and Return-to-Work Coordinator for on-the-job injuries and illnesses within established policies. Works closely with department managers/directors, Infection Preventionist, Environment of Care, Medical Staff Services and the Infection Control Committee. Additional responsibilities include developing and implementing employee programs such as safe work practices and accident prevention.
Essential Functions :
Maintain a confidential, complete and accurate system of employee, volunteer and provider medical records.
Assists in drafting and responsible for following Hospital occupational health policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
Promote wellness among employees, volunteers and providers through educating, counseling and providing resource information.
Provides all immunizations needed foremployees, volunteers, providers, vendors and contractors.
Works closely with Infection Preventionist to provides Fit Testing needed to staff.
Oversees and coordinates the Hospital's Worker's Compensation program including post incident/accident investigation, recommendations to prevent future injuries and illnesses, file workers compensation claims with carrier, act as the Return-to-Work Coordinator.
Provides monitoring and counseling to staff involved with blood and body fluid exposures.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands along with fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Qualifications & Skills:
Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing, with a current Colorado RN license.
BSN or a BS in the Healthcare Field preferred, but not required.
Training and Experience:
A minimum of 3 years work experience in direct patient care.
Proficient writing and communication skills.
AHA BLS required on hire.
Must participate in on-going education and training via national/state organization webinars (CDC, APIC, CHA)
Workers Compensation Experience Preferred
Excellent communication skills required with the ability to build positive relationships with employees at all levels of the organization and community.
Must be self-directed, have the ability to prioritize and manage several projects in the same timeframe and be detailed oriented.
Must possess basic computer skills with knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, Excel software and clinical data base management.
Must be comfortable with public speaking.
Strong analytic and problem-solving skills preferred.
