JOB TITLE: Deputy Coroner--On Call PositionDUTIES:While on-call, be available by pager or phone 24 hours a day 7 days a weekfor a timely response to the scene of all reportable deaths that occur inMontrose County.Estimate date and time of death, pronounce death, obtain medicalrecords, interview witnesses, family members, physicians,professionals, and others associated with the deceased, write accurateunbiased reports, and document findings on Coroner's Office of MedicalInvestigations investigative form.Ensures positive identification of the decedent is made and the immediate nextof kin is notified of the death in a timely compassionate and professionalmanner.Interacts and communicates with family members and friends in a comfortingcompassionate manner.Proficient time management skills, ability to work with minimalsupervision, to ensure timely response, notification of next of kin, andthe completion of all required reports and documents.Evaluates observations of the scene, and the examination of the decedentwith the history provided.Interacts with federal, state and local agencies involved in the deathinvestigation.Interacts with other professionals to ensure the timely completion of requiredreports and forms to ensure final disposition of the decedent.Identifies, properly preserves and documents evidence.Keeps current on scientific technology and investigative techniques.Attends autopsies, as needed or required as well as quarterly trainingmeetings.Regular and predictable attendance is required.SKILLS REQUIRED:OTHER REQUIREMENTS:1. Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License with asatisfactory driving record.2. Licenses and Certifications with the Colorado Coroner's Associationand/or American Board of Medico-legal Death Investigators are desired afterhire.3. Possess a cell phone and vehicle (4-wheel preferred) for scene response.PREFERRED SKILLS:A minimum of five (5) years experience in death investigation is preferred- medical background and/or law enforcement investigative experience ispreferred.WAGE:Wage for this position is $36.00 per hour during a 12 hour on-call shift.Also, $125.00 for call-outs.SHIFTS:While on-call, be available by pager or phone 24 hours a day 7 days a weekfor a timely response to the scene of all reportable deaths that occur inMontrose County.JOB SITE:Montrose County at various locations.BENEFITS:None available.HOW TO APPLY:If you meet the minimum requirements for this position please click on "Howto Apply" to view application information.
