Colorado Department Of Human Services Temporary - Client Care Aide I - Homelake Veterans in Monte Vista, Colorado

This is a temporary position.Additional important information about this position is available on the Stateof Colorado Job Board posting.Description of JobWe are seeking exceptional and caring health care workers to provide basicpatient care under direction of nursing staff. This position will providebasic nursing care to residents of varying mental, physical and healthconditions; assists in meeting the activities of daily living,ambulation, range of motion, vital sign assessments, etc. As anemployee, you will experience an atmosphere of "culture change" as weoperate on a simple principle, "What's in the best interest of theresident?" Dream for and achieve a higher standard of care for ourresidents bDuties required may include, but not limited to:Performing basic nursing care, which includes, bathing, feeding,dressing, transferring, ambulating, positioning, lifting, assistingwith range of motion, assisting with toileting, and providing skin care, etc.Providing for the safety of residents and others by using correct liftingtechniques, monitoring the environment, monitoring the resident'swhereabouts and activities, and using safety devices such as lifts and siderails, etc.Performing basic resident assessments and recording information in the areasof weights, bowel and bladder incontinence, intake and outputs, andvital signs.Recording hall sheet data for each shift.Implementing proper infection control practices via the use of standardprecautions.Communicating with others to ensure proper resident care and work completion.Keeping RN's and LPN's informed of findings and changes in resident'scondition.Maintaining therapeutic milieu through appropriate interpersonal skill use.Monitoring environments and assisting residents to maintain rooms andpossessions.Maintaining resident's care and equipment, such as, cleaning oxygenconcentrators, filling portable oxygen tank, maintaining/disinfectingtubs and showers, and changing lift batteries, etc.Transporting residents to medical appointments when the need arises.Attending educational training and staff meetings to maintain currenttechniques, policies, and inter-shift communication.Performs other job related duties as assigned or required.Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment and AppealRightsEducation:A high school diploma or GEDSubstitution:A valid Certified Nurse Aide license (CNA) from the Colorado Department ofRegulatory Agencies will substitute for high school diploma or GED.Special Qualifications:Must possess a current and active Certified Nurse Aide license obtained fromthe Colorado Department of Regulatory AgenciesPreferred Qualifications:Completion of a Certified Nurse Assistant course and obtain license within 4months of hire.Experience assisting residents with their Assisted Daily Living (ADL) carein a long-term care settingExperience in resident transfersExperience in resident ambulationExperience recording intake and output measurementsExperience in assisting residents during mealsRequired Competencies:DependabilityExcellent Oral Communication SkillsProblem SolvingParticipating as an Active Team PlayerSupplemental Information Requested: You must attach at least threereferences to your application.
