Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, Colorado's largest and most comprehensiveprovider of cancer care has an opportunity for an experienced LPN in Longmont.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:-Provides general nursing care to patients.-Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursingstandards.-Assists with the preparation of equipment and aids physician duringexamination and procedures.-Observes, records, and reports patients condition and reaction to drugsand treatments to physicians.-Administers prescribed medications as directed.-Screens patients for appropriate information. Instructs patients incollection of specimen samples for testing.-Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls. Instructs patient and familyregarding medications and treatment instructions.-Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including but notlimited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.-Performs EKG and oxymetry readings as required by physician.-Obtains blood specimens from peripheral sites as needed and in accordancewith OSHA and universal precautions.-Phones in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as required or directedby physicians.-Maintains patient files, records and other information. Assists withdisability, FMLA and prior auth paperworks.-Initiate IV fluids and IV therapeutic medications in accordance withLPN/LVN state nurse practice act.POSITION REQUIREMENTS:High school graduate or equivalent. Graduate from an accredited school forpractical nursing. This position requires at least 1-2 years experience as apractical nurse. Phlebotomy experience preferred. Current LPN state licenseand registration with the State Board of Practical Nursing in practicingstate.All qualified candidates are required to pass a background check andnon-federal drug test (which excludes marijuana) post offer of employmentand prior to hire.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must bemet by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of thisjob.
