The Certified Surgical Technician isexperienced in all aspects as aseptic technique, setting up the requiredequipment and sterile supplies as needed for their assigned cases; pullingcases for the following day s cases; breaking down cases at the end of theprocedure. He/she is knowledgeable regarding instrumentation, equipmentand supply needs for all types of surgical procedures. The Certified SurgicalTechnician may act as a second circulator in the Operating Room and willfunction under the direction of the R.N. This role will entail duties forwhich he/she has demonstrated competency. The surgical technician may comein contact with medications and therefore must demonstrate understanding ofproper medication management and storage as well as maintaining a securemedication environment the certified operating room technician performsdelegated duties consistent with his/her scope of practice and functionswithin the philosophy and overall plan for SRMC. Follows and supports SRMCpolicy and procedures. The operating room technician displays positivesupport for the values and mission of SRMC. Provides education onprocedures, instrumentation, and equipment. Demonstrates advancedresource skills for equipment and instruments. Assists coordinators in casepreparation, equipment needs (operating and capital requests) andpreference card accuracy. Lead preceptor skills. Ability to function andprecept in a minimum of two specialties (Total Joints, and ComplexSpine). Call is required for position.
