CompanyUFP Lafayette, LLCJob TitleSafety CoordinatorLocation1201 South Boulder Rd, Lafayette, Colorado 80026-2029Open DateOct 14, 2020Area of InterestAdministrativeGeneral SummaryThe Safety Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, facilitation,and supervision of the facility's safety programs and initiatives.Works under general direction; relies on limited experience and judgment toplan and accomplish goals; follows pre-established guidelines and commonpractices to perform job.Principal Duties / ResponsibilitiesRegularly inspects facility operations to ensure that safe job practices arefollowed, protective equipment is properly utilized and all requiredmachine/process guards are in place and operationalInvestigates and facilitates the investigation of all accidents and near missoccurrences, identifies trends and causes and ensures that correctivemeasures are implementedWorks with management to develop safety programs and incentives as appropriateConducts new hire training and ensures new employees understand safetypractices and policiesProvides training to employees on the safe and appropriate operation ofmachinery and equipmentChairs the Safety CommitteeEnsures the facility maintains the proper number of personnel trained in firstaid and CPR and that required level of safety and medical supplies aremaintained in inventoryConducts and certifies all forklift trainingCoordinates annual fire inspection tours and planned/unplanned tours byother safety and health regulatory agenciesMonitors facility hearing conservation programCoordinates work duties for employees on medical restrictionsMaintains appropriate communication with immediate management, HumanResources, and third party claims administratorsMaintains OSHA 300 log and other required reportsPrepares regular and special reports as requiredPerforms other duties as requiredRequirementsKnowledge RequiredMinimum high school graduateMinimum one to three years of experience in safety or woodworking operationsWorking knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer and business relatedsoftware, including Microsoft applications (Excel, Word and Outlook)Certification in First Aid and CPR and working knowledge of OSHA and DOTregulationsSkills and abilitiesProficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing andspeakingAbility to maintain and safeguard confidential and sensitive informationAbility to successfully communicate with all organizational levelsAbility to apply business math in business situations, to plan, organizeand prioritize work and to effectively interact with othersAbility to be mobile in the work environmentAbility to work hours mandated by managementAbility to pass a drug testConductSelf-managingHighly motivated and enthusiasticGood interpersonal skills and good communication skillsStrong organization skills and detail orientedBe a team player and support the Company's goalsConducts in a professional mannerSalary/HourlyHourlyUniversal Forest Products and its subsidiaries and affiliates are equalopportunity employers.
