The US OncologyNetwork is supported by McKesson Specialty Health, a division of McKessonCorporation focused on empowering a vibrant and sustainable community patientcare delivery system to advance the science, technology and quality of care.For more information, visit general supervision, reviews chemotherapy and radiation regimens inaccordance with reimbursement guidelinesObtains necessary pre-certifications and exceptions to ensure no delay inreimbursement of treatmentsResearches denied services and alternative resources to pay for treatmentSupports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include theCode of Ethics and Business StandardsESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Obtains initial and subsequent insurance authorization andpre-certification for chemotherapy services, surgeries, and imaging. Researches additional or alternative resources for non-covered services toprevent payment denials. Maintains a close working relationship with site Patient FinancialCounselor. Communicates with clinical staff, PFC, and management restrictions orunique requirements for insurance plans. Maintains a current working knowledge of authorization requirements forall payers, and of state and federal regulatory guidelines. Assists in maintaining manuals, logs and other required documentation. Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect thepatient and the clinic/corporation. Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of thefront office. Covers for and assists with other front office functions as requested. Other duties as may be assigned.POSITION REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent Minimum three years of medical business office experience with insuranceprocedures and patient interaction Additional clinical background preferred Knowledge of medical terminology Excellent communication skills, written and verbal Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite,EHR/EMR, and insurance portalsPHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must bemet by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of thisjob.
