Primary City/State: Greeley, ColoradoDepartment Name: Procurement-McKeeWork Shift: VariedJob Category: LabPOSITION SUMMARYThis position is entry level and is responsible for the receipt of biologicalspecimens into the department, preparation of samples for analyticaltesting, and performing testing. This position reports to departmentsupervisor, and takes direction from higher level technical personnel.CORE FUNCTIONS1. Performs basic technical processes as assigned, based on specificdepartment requirements. Performs testing under direct supervision in a timelymanner according to established policies, meeting performance standards andknowledge level determined for that testing. Processes and prepares patientsamples as required. Demonstrates an understanding of the computer systemsused in the department. Tracks and locates missing specimens. Generates worklists, as required. Performs basic maintenance checks on laboratoryequipment. Demonstrates awareness and complies with accrediting agency andregulatory requirements related to their area of responsibility.2. Focuses on quality by ensuring that all work performed is accurate,complete and performed within the time frames defined by the department. Meetsdepartment standards for productivity and quality. Participates in detectingand documenting occurrences that deviate from defined procedures. Followsestablished methods and practices and demonstrates basic problem solvingskills3. Participates in departmental financial responsibilities through theappropriate use of supplies and materials and assists with inventorymanagement. Participates in department initiatives to reduce costs and improveservice.4. Performs miscellaneous support duties as defined by the department. Activein training and competency of laboratory personnel.5. Communicates courteously, professionally, effectively and accuratelywith internal and external customers. Demonstrates skills for basic computerinquiry and problem solving, and use of communication equipment.Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills. Promotes positivecommunications that enhance teamwork. Usematerial handling equipment to push/and or pull up to 75 pounds and requiredto lift, push and/or pull up to 25 pounds. Requires manual dexterity. Mustuse standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and body fluids,chemical, electrical and biological hazards. Ability to distinguish colorsand to take direction and assimilate instructions quickly.
