The Coulter Student Health Center provides quality primary health care and information, health counseling and education to all eligible students at the Colorado School of Mines. It also monitors compliance with state requirements for immunizations.

Description of Job
The Medical Assistant provides comprehensive health care and education, primarily to the student population of Mines. This includes interviewing patients for primary complaint, obtaining vital signs, updating patient's medication list and documenting pertinent medical history in the Electronic Medical Record. Under the direction of the provider, the Medical Assistant is responsible for charging and charting all procedures, treatments and medications. Will call in prescriptions and complete prior authorizations, release of information, placement and follow-ups for referrals. Stocks and cleans exam rooms and treatment rooms, cleans and sterilizes equipment in emergency situations. Provides broad administrative support to the department that may include assisting with student inquiries and request, and managing and managing administrative tasks. Other duties include report writing, managing accounting associated with department activity, immunization compliance, managing departmental web presence, and assiting in supervision of student workers.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
Must have a high school diploma or GED and be a certified medical assistant. Please submit a copy of your certificate with your application. Daily interaction with a diverse population of students requires this position to possess excellent interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills. Must have excellent attention to detail in order to perform accurate charting and good interview and assessment skills in order to successfully gather information from patients.
Experience working in a family practice or urgent care/ER facility
Experience in office-performed procedures such as phlebotomy, allergy shots and immunizations
Experience using Electronic Medical Records
Experience working with college students in a campus health center
Front desk reception experience
