QuarterLine is currently seeking full time, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners to join our team atEvans Army Community Hospital on Ft. Carson. Specific Tasks: The duties include but are not limited to the following:


  • Performs full range of advanced practice nursing care for treating beneficiaries (children, adolescents, and adults) requesting behavioral health services. The services may be performed on site at the clinic by qualified individuals or by referral to an appropriate network provider. The position requires an individual who can utilize all the skills of an advanced practice nurse to provide comprehensive care in a busy clinic.

  • The provider will evaluate new patients, gather histories, discuss goals with patients, and implement mutually agreed upon solutions. The advanced practice nurse will prescribe medications, educate patients about risks and benefits, probe for side effects, and monitor progress, always striving to meet the patients' needs.

  • Functions at an expanded level of responsibility by combining services of the professional nurse and the physician within the framework of mutually established medical guidelines. This position is involved in primary care which is the care of patients at the point of contact with the health care service or the continued care of ambulatory patients.

  • Performs psychiatric intakes and evaluations and prescribes medications. Incumbent works closely with other members of the total treatment team in the formulation of the total care plan for patients. Provides comprehensive nursing care for any type of psychiatric patient. Observes patients closely, evaluating and recording any significant behavior and reaction patterns. Screens for and addresses side effects or other medication problems, monitors efficacy, responding as needed.

  • Meets or exceeds quality care standards, achieves clinical excellence, contributes to quality improvement, and strives for high patient satisfaction. Incumbent participates actively in the quality improvement system, to comply with all appropriate Joint Commission standards and National Patient Safety goals, and other quality improvement projects.

  • Maintains appropriate records using a computerized record keeping and coding system. Works closely with primary care and other providers in accepting referrals, providing feedback, and sending referrals as needed. Provides feedback and advice to unit commanders and other leaders regarding the well-being of their soldiers.


Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Degree/Education:Successfully completed Master of Science in Nursing degree program with specialization as a family nurse practitioner accredited by a national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education.

  • Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support:Current BLS with AED.

  • Experience:Must have a minimum of 24 months in the last 36 months of documented current clinical independent experience and competency in a mental health setting. Must have the level of experience and documented current clinical competency to be awarded “Regular” privileges to work independently.

  • Board Certification:Maintains a current national certification in specialty (i.e., certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

  • Licensure/Registration:Must possess and maintain an active, current, valid and unrestricted RN license as well being licensed to the Advanced Practice level IAW the US jurisdiction (fifty States, the District of Columbia, the Common-wealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands) requirements of their currently held RN license to practice independently within the defined scope of practice for their specialty.

  • Citizenship:  U.S. citizenship. 

  • Credentialing:  

  • Ability to pass background check and drug screen.  

  • Current physical and immunizations.   


Preferred Qualifications:    

  • Previous experience working with the military population.  


Work Location, Hours, and Physical Requirements: 

  • Physical Requirements: You must be on the premises to perform the job. The environment is fast-paced and multifaceted, with conditions and duties that can change quickly throughout a shift.

  • Hours of Performance: Normal clinic workdays and hours are Monday- Friday, between 0700-1700; however, work weekdays/hours may vary due to mission schedule. May be assigned call on weeknights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Scheduling: The work schedule will be determined by the government supervisor. Any changes to the schedule will be coordinated through the Chief of Behavior Health, Clinic Manager or designated representative and shall be mutually agreed on between the MTF and the contractor.

  • Place of Performance: HCWs shall receive a 2-week notification prior to the reassignment to another location with a 40-mile commuting radius of their assigned MTF.
