U.S. Army Medical Command Medical Instrument Technician (MRI) in Fort Carson, Colorado


This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Medical Instrument Technician (MRI) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located in Evans Army Community Hospital, Fort Carson, CO, Department of Radiology, performing Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) examinations of patients to aid in the diagnosis of disease or injury.



Conditions of Employment



This is a TERM position. It is time-limited and may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. This position may be converted to permanent career or career-conditional appointment without further competition as long as all requirements are met. This is an obligated position. Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Performing a full scope of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) examinations which involve obtaining high quality images from difficult and varied MRI examinations by setting up, adjusting, operating, or maintaining MRI and ancillary equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). OR Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-09: Graduate education or an internship meets the specialized experience required only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position. Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree meets the requirements for GS-9 (Note: You MUST submit transcripts for proof of education to verify your claim). OR Combination of Experience and Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-XX: If applicable, insert appropriate combination statement. Only graduate education in excess of one year may be used to qualify when combining Specialized Experience and Education. Compute the percentage of these requirements and the total is at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond one year by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute for experience. An ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) Registration/Certification is highly desired
