Position Summary: Serves as a clinical resource and acts as a role model for staff. Is the liaison between staff and management, assisting the Director/CNC in determining staffing needs and identifying problems. The Charge Nurse assists the staff in-patient care assessment, planning interventions and is involved in problem solving. The position requires budgetary commitment to the staffing matrix/productivity standards, peer evaluations, chart audits and management duties as assigned. When the need arises the Charge RN will perform other duties as assigned by the Director/Unit Manager.

Position Requirements:

  1. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Licensed to practice as an RN in the state of Colorado. BLS required and any unit specific certifications.

  2. Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN preferred.

  3. Experience: Two years experience as an RN.

  4. Special Qualifications: Continuing demonstration of clinical and leadership competency. Commitment and understanding of staffing matrix/productivity standard. Committed to the goals of the unit and patient focused care.

  5. Degree of supervision required: Involves general guidance and direction by the Patient Care Director, Nurse Manager, and CNC. Employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
