Pfizer Worldwide Research and Development La Jolla, has an open position fora talented and high-performing biophysical research scientist in theStructural Biology and Protein Sciences (SBPS) Group within the Departmentof Oncology Medicinal Chemistry. Candidates who have demonstrated an abilityto perform innovative and high-quality research, working bothindependently, and as part of teams are encouraged to apply. The candidatewill contribute to a core biophysics SBPS team, collaborating withcolleagues across the SBPS group. The successful candidate will applybiophysical characterization of protein targets intended for X-raycrystallography, cryo-EM and biochemical assays to support SBDD platformsand impacting projects at a strategic level.The position will be at the level of Scientist.Basic Qualifications:B.S./M.S. in biophysics, biochemistry, or a related field.4+ years of lab-based research experience.Hands-on expertise in biophysical techniques (ITC, DSF, SPR, MST,Fluorescence assays) for analysis (data acquisition and interpretation)of protein interactions (small molecule, protein and nucleic acid).Demonstrated experience in biophysical techniques (SEC-MALS, DLS/SLS,BLI) for characterization of proteins and macromolecular complexes.Responsible to train colleagues, ensure operation of existing biophysicsinstrumentation, and help drive the identification and utilization ofemerging technologies to strengthen and build on current capabilities withinSBExcellent oral and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skills which facilitate knowledge sharing andscientific discussionsAbility to quickly and effectively operate, communicate and influencedecision making within cross-functional and multi-disciplinary drug discoveryteamsPreferred Qualifications:Understanding of mass spectrometry and biochemical analysis/enzyme assayswould be beneficial.Prior experience working in structural biology teams is a plus.#LI-PFEOther Job Details:Eligible for Employee Referral BonusSunshine ActPfizer reports payments and other transfers of value to health care providersas required by federal and state transparency laws and implementingregulations.
