KBR Safety Engineer in Denver, Colorado
KBR is seeking a Safety Engineer to provide support for the LUCY project. The safety engineer will review contractor activities, documentation, and deliverables.
The Safety Engineer will provide safety management, coordination, and communication.
Participating in Safety Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), and Working Group Meetings
Coordinating and communicating PSM, CSO, and Project personnel (especially the LM Safety team)
Preparing project safety related correspondence, evaluations and other documentation for Project review and approval
Managing and maintaining surveillance of the System Safety program and service as the technical safety engineering expert
Maintaining and sustaining safety engineering planning and execution
Establishing and maintaining liaison with program managers and work closely with their representatives to ensure that safety concerns are addressed.
To fulfill the task, the assigned Safety Engineer will provide technical safety support including:
Hazard Analysis & Safety compliance evaluations
Coordinate and provide expertise to the Lucy Project Safety Manager (PSM)
Review of contractor documentation and deliverables.
Review Safety Documentation:
Safety Data Package and Payload Hazard Reports
Safety Requirements Compliance Checklist (SRCC)
Waivers and Equivalent Level of Safety Requests
Ensure Safety Requirement Compliance and Implementation by:
Recommending hazard analysis techniques and methods
Providing peer support to the Project organization
Working with design, technical, and mission support personnel and engineers to identify hazards, controls, applicable safety requirements and means for demonstrating compliance
Maintaining awareness of GIDEP Alerts
Experience, Education, & Skills:
5 + years of hands-on work experience as a System Safety Engineer
Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related field
Excellent verbal and written skills
Work in Cleanroom for a full workday
Understand technical drawings
Determine, develop, and defend technical requirements
Plan, maintain and sustain a System Safety program
Provide safety support and recommendations for hardware, operations and test activities
Identify operational hazards and applicable safety controls
Work with minimal supervision and manage a System Safety program
Interact with management and elevate issues as needed to ensure all safety concerns are addressed and resolved
Work and have experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Obtain ESD Workmanship Certification
Prior NASA project experience as a Safety Engineer is
Prior launch experience is preferred as a Safety Engineer
