A residency waiver has been granted for this announcement. Applications will be considered from residents and non-residents of Colorado.

Under the direction of Governor Jared Polis, the Division of Professions and Occupations at the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) has conducted a review of existing licensing exemptions that allow for individuals in the healthcare field who either hold licenses in other states or who have allowed their license to expire in Colorado to immediately resume work within their scope of practice, provided their out-of-state or expired license is/was in good standing.

This is an at-will position employed by the University of Colorado, Denver and will work under a contract for CDHS. Eligible for vacation/sick leave, health/dental/life insurance, participation in the CU workers compensation, disability, and the University retirement program. More information may be found here. Description of Job

The Colorado Mental Health Institute at Fort Logan (CMHIFL) is a 94 bed adult inpatient psychiatric facility located in Denver, CO that provides excellent psychiatric care to a vulnerable patient population. As one of the State's two mental health hospitals, CMHIFL serves a highly diverse patient population and embraces a recovery-oriented and trauma-informed approach to care. You will join us during an exciting time of growth as we increase inpatient bed capacity in the near future.

Our Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurses:

  • Work in collaboration with psychiatrist to provide evidence-based psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment in an inpatient setting.

  • Provide exceptional psychiatric care and truly make a difference without the traditional stressors of a for-profit or production-based setting.

  • Manage a reasonable caseload.

  • Are supported by a team of professionals including psychiatrists, medical physicians, social workers, psychologists, nurses, pharmacists, and administration.

  • Provides additional in-house therapeutic and consultative services including electroconvulsive therapy, behavioral neurology, neuropsychology, dentistry, PT/OT, and others, in addition to a robust network of community-based medical resources.

  • Currently serves a civil patient population with serious mental illness. As hospital bed capacity increases over the next few years, some inpatient beds will be dedicated to forensic patients.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Requirements

  • A Master of Science degree in Nursing from a program accredited by the American Nurses Association or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

  • Current registration as an Advanced Practice Nurse.

  • Certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist from the American Nurse's Credentialing Center.

  • Valid prescriptive authority in good standing.

  • 3 years of recent direct-care, inpatient psychiatry experience as an advanced practice nurse with prescriptive authority.

  • American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Professionals

Conditions of Employment:

  • The successful candidate will be willing to submit to and successfully pass a full criminal background check (Name check, TRAILS, Drug Screen and Fingerprinting).

  • The successful candidate must pass a health screening evaluation and comply with mandatory annual influenza vaccination requirements.
