Jobs in this career family provide direct professional support of research activities. Functions include contracts and grants solicitation and administration, grant/agreement preparation, review and negotiation, regulatory compliance, sponsor communication and post and pre award management, human subject compliance, research animal management, research laboratory coordination and instruction, environmental health and safety, radiation control, hazardous materials use, disposal and training.
Managers are responsible for the day-to-day operation of functional work units, including the development and implementation of processes consistent with college, school or departmental strategies and processes and the supervision of professional and support staff.
The Office of Grants and Contracts (OGC) seeks a Pre-Award Manager.
The Pre-Award Manager position for the Pre-Award & Contracting Services team within Grants and Contracts provides:
Leadership and professional development for PreAward Specialists.
Guidance and workload oversight for the PreAward Specialists regarding proposal reviews.
Review of grant proposals for Anschutz Medical Campus and Downtown Denver Campus faculty. The position reviews and provides feedback on grant applications, budgets, and assures compliance with applicable policy and guidelines.
Training and guidance to administrative unit personnel and Principal Investigators (PIs) on grants and sponsored project issues as needed.
Serves as a liaison between funding agencies, administrative units and PIs.
Serves as the primary Authorized Official Representative and Signing Official for all grant activity at the University of Colorado Denver.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

A bachelor’s degree in public health, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, nursing, healthcare, finance, accounting, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
3 to 5 years of extensive, diverse and progressively responsible experience in Grants & Contracts
2 years of supervision experience
A combination of education and/or related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
Experience with the proposal development process for Federal, state, foundation and private funding opportunities.
Demonstrated experience leading a team.
Knowledge and demonstrated application of OMB Uniform Guidance.
