Position SummaryResponsible for managing the daily clinical operations, administrativefunctions, and supervises the clinical staff of the Northern and WesternOncology practices. Collaborates with physicians, management, and otherclinical leaders and staff to promote efficient, high quality nursing caredelivery that is consistent with best practice principles, assures patientsatisfaction, regulatory compliance, and provider efficiency. Plans andimplements specialized nursing care for patients and families in the oncologypractice care setting utilizing a systematic approach incorporatingassessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Practices inaccordance with physician orders, established policies and procedures, andthe values stated in the National Jewish Health and the Department of Nursingvision and mission. Provides nursing services within the scope of the RN asdefined by the Colorado Board of Nursing. Participates in orientation of newsEssential Duties1. Manages and develops an effective staff: providing effectivecommunication, leadership, guidance and resources. Determines staffqualifications and competency: recruits, interviews, selects,hires, trains, orients, mentors, evaluates, coaches, counsels,disciplines, and rewards. Establishes and monitors staff safety andregulatory2. Develops and evaluates staffing plan assuring sufficient and appropriateresources are available. Identifies opportunities for alternative staffing,sharing resources, and staffing to demand. Evaluates the quality andeffectiveness of clinical practice on the units, analyzing appropriateinternal and external data and information to identify opportunities incollaboration with Medical Staff, CNO, Nursing Leadership, and staff forimproving services and patient outcomes.3. Provides direct patient care and other nursing-relatedservices/activities when needed to support the ongoing clinical activitiesof the unit.4. Leads the development, data collection and analysis of team-based qualityimprovement projects, utilizing results to improve patient care. Implementsand evaluates a practice improvement and quality assurance plan.5. Acts as a consultant to nursing staff, medical staff, and other supportservices in identification of and implementation related to specified patientproblems or needs. Active contributor to the setting and achievement ofdepartmental goals and objectives based upon a needs assessment and or changesin clinical practice. Demonstrates ability to articulate and promote patientcare practices that are consistent with American Nurses Association Standardsof Practice, the ONS and all relevant regulatory standards.6. Participates in assessment and implementation to determine the individualneeds of the patients and overall program needs for the institution. Assistsin the formulating goals and objectives: establishes standards of nursingcare and nursing practice consist with the philosophy of the institution.7. Represents unit and/or the Department of Nursing on appropriatecommittees and interacts with community, regional, and nationalorganizations related to nursing and specialty practice.8. Partners with others to identify and analyze opportunities for programexpansion. Evaluates factors related to safety, outcomes, effectiveness,cost, and social impact when developing and implementing program expansion.9. Promotes research, and integrating evidence-based knowledge into theidentification of best practice in the delivery of nursing care to theappropriate population.10. Implements and evaluates a practice improvement and quality assuranceplan.11.
