Position Summary: Medical Science Liaison, Post-Transplant, West
Thermo Fisher Scientific is currently seeking a Medical Science Liaison, Post-Transplant to provide peer-to-peer educational dialogue in support of the field sales team for a portfolio of rejection monitoring tests and services in the area of solid organ transplantation. In addition, you will ensure compliant, high-quality clinical messaging for yourself and the field sales team. You will be asked to contribute clinical insight to inform decision making on various aligned teams.
Remotely based in any major US city west of the Mississippi River.
What will you do?
Provide clinical education as it relates to the use and utility of post-transplant molecular diagnostics and antibody monitoring products and provide an appropriate scientific exchange of assay performance and disease state.
Build and maintain professional relationships with nephrologist, cardiologist, pulmonologists, transplant coordinators, hospital administrators and hospital laboratories related to transplant patient care.
Collaborate within a matrixed organization (Laboratory Account Management Team, Business Development Post-transplant and Marketing) to identify opportunities within territory to foster relationship between transplant physicians and HLA laboratories to generate demand for post-transplant monitoring related product lines.
Partner with the Director of Medical Affairs to:
Collect, analyze and disseminate relevant scientific publications, studies, clinical results and best practices on transplant patient care applicable to the use of post-transplant molecular diagnostics and antibody monitoring transplant recipients for organ rejection.
Support collaborations with outside clinical investigators, researchers and thought leaders to drive the adoption of post-transplant products into routine clinical use.
Develop clinical utility and health economic study plan required to support product launches and adoption to drive revenue goals.
Acquire and translate customers insights to provide guidance to Director of Medical Affairs and Marketing team to better understand market trends and align with activities for growth opportunities to continue to enhance our value proposition.
Leverage Salesforce.com to track education activities.
Attend trade and vendor shows and meetings as needed.
How will you get here?
Mandatory degree/license as a Licensed Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Physician, other advanced medical degree (PhD or RPh) will be considered, combined with a Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum of 5+ years of directly applicable clinical experience in nephrology and/or cardiology.
3+ years previous clinical transplant team experience required, preferably in the area of heart, kidney or lung.
Develop, maintain and expand collaborations with outside clinical investigators, researchers and key opinion leaders in the transplant community to drive the adoption of products into routine clinical use.
Excellent problem solving and persuasion skills and the ability to create success by professionally presenting clinical solutions to individuals and multidisciplinary groups.
Ability to assess and respond to clinical information, scientific/medical concepts and to present a fair balanced highly clinical, scientific and professional profile of disease state therapies and products, and any other therapies and products of interest to Thermo Fisher Scientific.
Strong presentation, analytical and customer service skills complimented by a solutions-oriented track record.
An understanding of commercial strategy, clinical market expansion, health economics and reimbursement coding.
Experience and knowledge of molecular diagnostic assay technology.
Significant travel required (60%).
