The Department of Family Medicine has an opening for a full-time, University Staff (unclassified) Family Medicine Residency Professional (Business Services Professional) position.

_Job Summary:_

Jobs in this career family provide general business operations of the organization or a combination of operational responsibilities covering multiple career families. Functions include institutional research, statistical analysis, policy development and review, strategic planning and broad unit business operations such as parking and transportation services, risk management, childcare services, real estate and property management, retail services or job responsibilities that combine fiscal, HR and operational management responsibilities.

Professionals at the intermediate level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.

At the intermediate level, duties may be more limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals.

_Examples of Work Performed:_

The Family Medicine Residency Professional is responsible for collaborating closely with program leaders and administrative staff to ensure the smooth operation of educational and operational aspects of the Family Medicine Residency Program. This position will manage the scheduling and coordination of didactics sessions for residents and educational rotation meetings (Chautauqua series), including communication with lecturers and evaluation of programs. Manages Milestones in WebAds, and collaborates with the Denver Health residency coordinator to oversee patient numbers tracking and evaluations for residents. Directs medical student rotations in collaboration with the Student Affairs Office, including scheduling and evaluation of the inpatient and outpatient rotations. Coordinates core faculty meetings and has independent responsibility for graduation events, as well as assists with recruiting efforts. Independently provides high-level support to the Residency Program Director, Associate Director and Medical Director, including managing schedules, travel, meetings and preparation of presentations. With minimal supervision, implements the residency program’s annual operating budget including ensuring that budgeted expenses are spent within appropriate guidelines. Responsible for processing invoices and accounts payables and provides expense management and accounting reports as needed. Provides travel and reimbursement support for residents and residency faculty members.


Specific Duties:

  • Oversees and assists with residency recruiting efforts.

  • Implements the residency program’s annual operating budget with minimal supervision, including ensuring that budgeted expenses are spent within appropriate guidelines.

  • Processes invoices and accounts payables and provides expense management and accounting reports as needed.

  • Provides travel and reimbursement support for residents and residency faculty members, using an electronic expense system.

  • Works with faculty directors to coordinate residents’ weekly conference and interns’ intensive educational months, including evaluation of lectures and distribution of materials.

  • Coordinates medical student rotations in collaboration with the student affairs office and faculty members, including scheduling and evaluation of inpatient and outpatient rotations.

  • Coordinates meeting logistics, including reserving rooms, ordering catering, distributing agendas, taking minutes, and distributing minutes.

  • Provides support for resident evaluation processes, including Semi-Annual Reviews and rotational evaluation distribution.

  • Coordinates logistics for residency events, including graduation, annual welcome picnic, and resident and faculty retreats.

  • Independently provides support to the residency program director, associate directors, and medical director, including managing scheduling, travel, meetings and preparation of presentations.

  • Collaborates with the Denver Health residency coordinator to track each resident’s patient visit numbers.

The person in this position will be based in the administrative offices in the residency program’s A.F. Williams Family Medicine Clinic in Stapleton but will be required to attend some meetings at the University of Colorado’s Department of Family Medicine.


PLEASENOTE:Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

_Salary and Benefits:_

The hiring salary for this position has been established at $45,000 - $53,000 and is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

_Minimum Qualifications:_

A bachelor’s degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution and 1 years of professional/paraprofessional experience supporting faculty and programs in an academic environment.

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis, but not for the specific experience.

Condition of Employment:

  • Must be willing and able to travel in order to attend Department meetings or events. The person in this position will be based in the administrative offices in the residency program’s A.F. Williams Family Medicine Clinic in Stapleton but will be required to attend some meetings at the University of Colorado’s Department of Family Medicine.

_Preferred Qualifications:_

  • Two (2) years of professional experience in an academic environment.

  • Experience in working with Graduate Medical Education, health care systems, and/or academic institutions.

  • Experience working with relevant University of Colorado financial systems (Procurement, Concur, Marketplace, and Cognos) and Graduate Medical Education programs (MedHub, ADS).

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Knowledge of policies relevant to Graduate Medical Education, health care systems, and/or academic institutions.
