1. POSITION:Registered Nuclear Med Tech (Part-Time)- RadiologyUnder the direction of the Radiologist, performs all required NuclearMedicine procedures. Performs a variety of technical procedures that willrequire independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to applyprescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Assumes responsibilityfor designated areas or procedures as required. Prepares, administers andmeasures radioactive isotopes for use in diagnostic and tracer studies.Performs and assists with nuclear medicine studies. Ensures compliance withpatient care quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all agegroups of patients ranging from neonate to geriatric. Participates inperformance improvement activities within the department and participates inCQI activities. Strives to maintain efficient and effective departmentoperation while requiring compliance with all DNV, federal, state andlocal regulatory laws, standards and protocols.2. DUTIES:Follows procedures for "checking in" isotopes and uses the NMIS programfor documentation.Mixes isotopes properly by test, patient status and any special requests bythe Radiologist. Documents all necessary information on Nuclear Medicine LogSheets and interactive document.Performs all QC and QA tests on the equipment and sends the appropriatefigures to the physicist in a timely manner.Prepares radiopharmaceuticals, performs procedures and conducts laboratorytests.Monitors departmental activities to ensure accuracy and efficiency ofprocedures.Administers radio pharmaceuticals under the direct supervision of aRadiologist.Assesses, evaluates and informs physician of changes in patient'scondition during testing.Interacts professionally with patient/family. Consults other departments,as appropriate, to collaborate in patient care and performance improvementactivities.Educates patient and family regarding the procedure to be performed.Along with the Radiologist, develops protocols for new and revised procedures.Assists in training of staffing overall operation of department and use ofequipment.Assists with the development and revision of radiation safety policies andprocedures to ensure the safety of personnel and regulatory requirements forhandling and disposing of radioactive materials.Ensures radioactive materials are stored properly.3. REQUIREMENTS:Two years previous experience required.Prefer satisfactory completion of formal Nuclear Medicine technology trainingin an AMA approved school and meets the requirements for registry by the ARRT.Has successfully completed on the job training and is registered/certifiedin the subspecialty of Nuclear Medicine.BLS Certification Required.4.
