MEDCOM Clinical Psychologist in COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado

  • This position is located in the Department of Surgery, Pain Clinic, Fort Carson, Colorado.

    • Preferred candidates will have completed an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited doctoral program and an APA accredited predoctoral internship.

As a Clinical Psychologist, you will:

  • Employ psychological techniques for the treatment of chronic pain and psychological conditions associated with pain.

  • Provide professional consultation to other medical departments within organization regarding role of psychological and behavioral factors in complex chronic pain patients.

  • Formulate treatment plans and diagnostic recommendations for patients with chronic pain.

  • Plan training and maintain clinical oversight of masters/doctoral interns and residents assigned to the Pain Services section.

Additional information about transcripts is in this document. • Degree: Successful completion of a Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. • Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: for an adult treatment population, performing bio-psychosocial evaluations, determining mental health diagnoses, developing behavioral health treatment plans, providing psychological counseling, and interpreting psychological tests. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. • Licensure Requirement: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas: • Skill in psychological assessment • Ability to provide therapeutic services • Knowledge of psychological testing • Knowledge of administrative procedures • Foreign education must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency in order to be considered for this position.
