Summary: The Oral Surgery Assistant assists Oral Surgeon during examination and treatment of patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Birner Dental Management Services/PERFECT TEETH reserves the right to revise the following job duties at any time. Other tasks may be assigned.

Administrative Functions:

  • Represents Birner Dental Management Services, Inc/PERFECT TEETH and exhibits conduct in a professional and consistent manner.

  • Maintains professional Dentist and staff relations through teamwork to ensure coordination of activities.

  • Achieves positive patient relations through excellent customer service skills to guarantee less patient complaints.

  • Orders and maintains dental supplies and equipment staying within the monthly office budget and monitoring supply levels in conjunction with the Office Manager.

    Complies with all OSHA regulations, maintains office and operatory cleanliness, and ensures equipment functionality

Requirements

Clinical Functions:

  • Prepares patients by greeting and escorting individuals to and from the dental chair.

  • Sterilizes and disinfects instruments, sets up instrument trays, prepares materials, and assists Dentist during dental procedures.

  • Takes and records medical and dental histories and vital signs of patients.

  • Captures and develops dental diagnostic X-rays.

General Responsibilities:

  • Prioritizes activities and assignments as to their relative importance.

  • Exercises care in the completion of work assignments.

  • Ensures responsiveness to company needs.

  • Implements improvement measures and suggests ways to improve efficiency of operation and working conditions.

  • Requests direction when needed.

  • Attends all mandatory office and corporate meetings.

  • Makes regular and predicable attendance a priority.

Education and/or Experience: One year certificate from college or technical school; and a minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be 18 years old to expose patients to ionizing radiation.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, and accurately document treatment notes in patients’ charts. Ability to effectively communicate with Dentist, staff, and patients.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: X-ray certified, CPR (BLS) certified and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and training.
