Boulder Community Hospital Registered Nurse / RN - Gunbarrel Urgent Care in Boulder, Colorado

Half Time, Days- 24 hours/week

POSITION SUMMARY

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivery of quality patient care in an urgent care clinic. By utilizing the nursing process, the Registered Nurse assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care. The nurse appropriately triages, coordinates and supervises patient care based on the age specific and special needs of patients. As part of the team, the nurse provides education and promotes health care activities within the community.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education or Formal Training

Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.)

  • Current State of Colorado Registered Nurse license in good standing.

  • BLS (Basic Life Saving) certification

  • Experience in emergency nursing preferred.

Knowledge, Skill and Ability

  • Exemplifies ENCORE values. Demonstrates positive interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Demonstrates confidence in nursing skills and ability to work independently.

  • Utilizes universal precautions in patient care.

  • Organizes and prioritizes patient care under pressure.

  • Act as a role model for other caregivers.

  • Adapts nursing care to meet the age-specific and special needs of patients.

  • Spanish language skills helpful

Experience

  • Previous emergency or urgent care nursing or equivalent experience of at least two years preferred.

  • Supervisory or teaching /mentoring experience, & /or charge nurse experience helpful.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED

  • Electronic Medical Record and Charts

  • In-office waived lab procedures

  • Medication administration

  • Oxygen Systems

  • Wheelchairs

  • All equipment required for provision of emergency nursing care (splinting suction IV’s etc.)

  • Fax Machine

  • AED

  • B/P pulse/ox Monitor

  • Surgical Instruments and Cleaning solutions

  • Cardiac Monitor

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

  • Physical working environment may include but is not limited to nay of the following hazards: chemical, electrical, mechanical , bio-waste, back strain ,body fluids, etc.,

  • Urgent Care setting/physically demanding at times. Work pace determined by patient census and acuity level of patients.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to constantly stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to stoop, crouch and twist. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, squat and sit.

  • The employee must be able to consistently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 10 pounds, frequently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally support, push, pull and/or transfer up to 50 pounds (for example, moving a patient from a wheelchair to a bed).

  • Functional physical demands include manual dexterity, fine motor skills and reaching. The following senses will be needed for essential duties of the job: speech, vision, hearing, smell and touch.

Providing coverage between all UCs (Urgent Cares) is an expectation of this position.
