POSITION SUMMARY To provide quality patient care to include physical assessment of patients encompassing cardiac, respirator, GI, GU, and neuro systems. Pain education and management for patients in radiology department. Administer conscious sedation and monitor these patients during the procedure. Patient education regarding procedures and aftercare followup. Assist with education of radiology staff regarding CPR, IV training and skills lab.
Education or Formal Training Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.) 1. Valid Colorado Registered Nurse license. 2. ACLS certification required by end of conditional period. 3. BLS required by end of conditional period.
Experience Minimum 1 year critical care/ER experience preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Provides patient care during invasive procedures, i.e.: arteriograms, biopsies and needle localizations.. 2. Administers supervised conscious sedation and monitors vital signs throughout. 3. Provides immediate emergency response to critical situations. 4. Catherizes patients as necessary; i.e.: VCUG, U.S.; nuclear medicine, pediatrics. 5. Provides care for critically ill patients in Imaging Department as needed, unless he/she feels inadequate to care for that patient.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES 1. Will require periods of long standing with a lead apron on. 2. Much of the work is done in radiation area. 3. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to constantly stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to stoop, crouch and twist. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, squat and sit. 4. The employee must be able to consistently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 10 pounds, frequently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally support, push, pull and/or transfer up to 50 pounds (for example, moving a patient from a wheelchair to a bed). 5. Functional physical demands include manual dexterity, fine motor skills and reaching. The following senses will be needed for essential duties of the job: speech, vision, hearing, smell and touch.
