Professional Research Associate
The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering encourages applications for a Professional Research Associate to work in the laboratory of the principal investigator, Professor Theodore Randolph. This role will work to build and test vaccine production equipment and conduct a variety of biochemical and biophysical assays related to determining efficient formulation conditions for therapeutic proteins and vaccines. The Professional Research Associate will use a number of analytical techniques in the laboratory. Many techniques will be based on standard biochemical assays, while others will require the use of custom equipment and specialized experimental protocols for which the selected candidate will receive training.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Assembling and testing of vaccine production equipment.
Carefully recording data including experimental results and experimental conditions.
Results of experiments and relevant experimental details will be reported in weekly research discussion meetings and in written reports.
Lab management duties are shared with the laboratory group and include maintaining stocks of supplies and reagents, maintaining chemical safety.
What You Should Know
This position does not require travel. Work hours are standard 9-5 but can be flexible with mutual agreement.
This position is anticipated to extend through October 1, 2020, with the possibility of renewal.

What We Require
B.S. level degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or Biochemistry.
What We Would Like You To Have
Experience in the design and assembly of mechanical equipment.
Familiarity with computers for CAD/CAM design and basic Matlab programming.
Experience with conducting chemical assays in a laboratory setting.
