Job SummaryThe Manager has overall responsibility for the site's Health, Safety,and Environment (HSE) program. The includes maintaining compliance andmanaging HSE improvements. The Manger facilitates HSE governance and executionof HSE activities associated with biotechnology laboratories andmanufacturing.The head of HSE promotes positive safety culture and behaviors. Coordinateswith operations to identify and mitigate risks with effective engineeringcontrols, procedures, and training. The manager is responsible for theapplication of HSE programs, procedures, and improving HSE procedures atthe siResponsibilities include: primary contact for HSE response, incidentreporting and investigations, waste disposal, environmental permits,waste water sampling and reporting, safety inspections, and HSEassessments for new product introductions to manufacturing. May provide HSEsupport for small satellite sites.This position is also responsible for HSE metrics, reporting, compliancereviews, risk management, and ensuring compliance of applicable HSE lawsand regulations. Manages all applicable HSE programs for the site such as:LOTO, confined space entry, industrial hygiene, hazard communication,PPE, workers compensation, emergency management, etc.The Manager oversees activities of a small HSE team and cross functional HSErepresentatives. The manager coordinates with other functions such asEngineering, Manufacturing, Process Development, and Quality Assurance.Represents the functional area to HSE regulators.Oversees HSE support for multiple systems, processes, or areas. Developssubject matter experts in several areas. Directs, reviews and approves HSEdocuments.Minimum RequirementsExperience:BS degree in an environmental, health, safety, engineering, orscientific field of study plus 5 years' related experience.The position requires current HAZWOPER and RCRA/EPA Hazardous wastemanagement certifications.Math Ability:Problem solving and application of sound engineering or scientific skills.Language Ability:Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
