Southwest Research Institute LEAD SCIENTIST - PRINCIPAL SCIENTIST - HELIOPHYSICS - BOULDER, COLORADO in Boulder, Colorado
Join our Space Science and Engineering’s Boulder office leading a concerted research effort to advance the understanding of physics of stellar dynamos and the solar dynamo. This includes development, operation, and exploitation of massively parallel simulations of the solar interior, including parametric searches across relevant characteristic variables of stellar convection, comparison of simulations with data, and coordination with the SwRI team carrying out research into solar magnetism and the solar cycle, and also with other groups worldwide. You will be responsible for presenting at conferences and publishing results in literature. This role also entails acquisition of ongoing funding to maintain the effort.
Requires a PhD degree in Applied Physics, Astrophysics, Astronomy, Physics, Solar Physics or closely related with at least 8 years of experience in the research of stellar convection and stellar dynamos. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Must have experience in leading research and self-funding research efforts via grants. Must have experience with the design, coding, and operation of multiprocessor magnetohydrodynamic simulations, image and data cube analysis and comparison to observations. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
Work assignment is in Boulder, Colorado.
