Summary -- Travel RN – STICU Surgical Trauma ICU – University of ColoradoHospital, Aurora, CO

Surgical/TraumaICU (STICU)

This 24-bed unit provides care for the critically ill clients who require intensive observation following surgery or trauma. We admit trauma patients, a variety of post-surgical patients, liver transplants, and living liver donors. The unit provides hemodynamic, respiratory, and neurological monitoring as well as intensive therapeutic modalities, sedation, and pain management. The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is based on patient acuity.

Travel RN - STICU

ASAP start

Day/night rotation or Straight Nights

1-2 years ICU direct care RN experience

Preferred - past Surgical Trauma / STICU experience

ACLS and BLS certifications required

CCRN preferred

Job Duties

· Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.

· Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

· Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

· Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.

Skills and Abilities:

Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, and take appropriate action. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Requirements

  • Graduateof an accredited Registered Nurse Program if less than three (3) years'experience.

  • 6months nursing experience (in an acute setting)

  • Statelicensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and any relevant unit specificcertification requirement.

  • BLS and ACLS throughthe American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for theProfessional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLSor CPR and ACLS card must be good through sixty days ofhire. All life support certification cards must be issued byeither the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR forthe Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional Rescueris only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be through anAmerican Heart Association sanctioned course.)

Preferred Qualifications

· Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

· Experience in a teaching/academic hospital

· Two years Travel RN experience

This position's pay rate is $38.00/hour. An annual bonus may be paid to eligible employees based upon organizational and individual performance
