The Department of Medicine, Division of Medical Oncology has an opening for a full-time Professional Research Assistant (PRA).

Nature of Work
Basic laboratory research focused on breast cancer biology, treatment resistance and tumor microenvironment. Applicant need not be well versed with all the techniques but should be an involved and fast learner eventually requiring supervision 2-3 times a week in about 3-4 months. It is expected that the applicant will work on a regular basis with students, senior PRAs and post-docs in training, as well as have access to all lab members for help with experimental design, execution and data interpretation. Focus of the position will be on proteomics and high throughput sequencing.

Metabolomic and proteomics (experience preferred)
Molecular biology techniques including PCR, western blotting, RNA extraction and analysis, experience with next generation sequencing is preferred.
Tissue culture of wide variety of cells (including patient tissue samples).
Immune Histochemistry
Animal studies
Handling patient tissue samples (blood, serum, primary tissues)
Flow Cytometry
Preparing Solutions
Maintenance of laboratory equipment and premises
Maintain protocols and inventory
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $35,600 - $45,000.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
BS/BA in Biology or Chemistry. No minimum prior experience needed. Students motivated to pursue an independent career in science or medicine who are looking to improve their skill sets and resume are encouraged to apply.
