Overall Description of Responsibility or Nature of Work:
The department of Dermatology is seeking a full-time Professional Research Assistant, funded by a new grant and available immediately. The research team studies the pathological mechanisms driving pigmentation disorders and melanoma using cell culture (including patient-specific iPSC) and mouse models. We are seeking highly motivated candidates to join the team. The main emphasis of this position is to utilize biochemical, molecular and cell biology techniques to unravel the underlining molecular mechanisms, with opportunities to learn new techniques.
The duties of this position may include, but are not limited to: plasmid preparation; expressing, enriching preparations for peptide or protein domain; biochemical or biophysical assays to study protein-protein interaction; culture of mammalian cells of mouse cells isolated from tissues and human cells; various functional assays with molecular or cell biology techniques; flow cytometry analyses; and regular lab maintenance.
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range ( or hiring range ) for this position has been established at $37,500 to $45,000.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range ( or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, immunology, or a closely related biological field.
Two years of research experience.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Experience in expressing protein domain or peptide and in biochemical, biophysical assays related to assessing protein-protein interactions.
Experiences in confocal microscopy or flow cytometry.
Capacity to learn new techniques quickly.
Prior successful research experiences in molecular, biochemistry, or cell biology.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Able to work independently and efficiently, as well as in a team setting.
Research integrity and strong work ethic and excellent team communication skills.
Able to keep detailed documentation and meet deadlines for experiments and literature research.
Strong and reliable organizational skills.
Basic computer software skills and the ability to learn new software programs.
