Professional Research Assistant

The University of Colorado Denver Department of Orthopedics, Foot & Ankle section has an opening for a full time Professional Research Assistant (PRA). The PRA will serve as the Research Coordinator/Regulatory Manager for clinical and basic science studies.
This position will assist faculty with all aspects of research activities related to the submission of Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols to the Colorado Multiple Institutional Review Board (COMIRB), Western IRB (WIRB), and other regulatory agencies. This includes protocol development, writing consent forms, adverse event reporting, managing continuing reviews of protocols, coordinating development of budgets, and maintaining overall project compliance. In addition the PRA may write and submit grants, perform basic statistical tests and data management, prepare and submit abstracts, papers and manuscripts. The PRA will ensure compliance with all internal and external policies and procedures that govern the department’s human subjects research. This includes monitoring FDA and other clinical trials.
The PRA will interact with patients during study visits and ensure completion of all necessary documentation, as well as facilitating study-related billing. The PRA will serve as a liaison to study sponsors and will lead site visits. The PRA will also assist in the development and maintenance of a record keeping system of protocols for COMIRB and other regulatory agency activities.
Examples of Work Performed
Monitor on-going research projects on a daily basis
Maintain complete records of all research projects
Track upcoming patient study visits
Assist in design and submission of future research protocols
Interact with institutional review board for protocol applications
Interact with sponsors regarding implementation and execution of clinical studies
Interact with patients during study visits (consenting, data collection, etc)
Maintain databases of clinical studies
Assist with preparation of manuscripts and research presentations
Assist with preparation of grants and project reports
Perform basic statistical analysis
Liaise with department research director on collaborative projects
Participate in weekly Foot and Ankle Conference with study team
Provide additional support to the Principal Investigators as needed
Help design, organize and conduct orthopedic research using established scientific protocols and procedures.
Oversee timeline, communication and management related to deployment of specific projects and/or research studies
Laboratory tasks like specimen collection and handling.
Participate in department research related meetings such as:
Monthly department faculty meetings
Bi-monthly adult orthopedic research meetings
Quarterly research assistant meetings/trainings
Others as needed
Maintain study project compliance within the following entities, such as:
COMIRB
OnCore
Clinicaltrials.gov
Epic
UCHealth Research Administration
External IRB
PatientIQ
Shared department drive OneDrive
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range ( or hiring range ) for this position has been established at $37,000 to $45,500.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range ( or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Minimum 1 year of experience writing and editing clinical research grants and manuscripts
Demonstrated experience in data analysis and basic statistics
Firm understanding of the principles and practices of clinical research
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to work with a great attention to detail and accountability for assigned tasks
Self-starter
Good command of the English language, both written and verbal
Strong interpersonal skills; able to work with colleagues and patients in a confidential and professional manner
Excellent organizational and communication skills both written and verbal
Ability to problem solve and multi-task.
Excellent knowledge regarding IRB policies and procedures
Excellent knowledge regarding Sponsor and FDA regulatory requirements
Ability to work independently and in a virtual environment
Excellent work ethic and ability to work well as part of a team
Ability to be organized, take initiative and be a self-starter in approach to tasks
Excellent computer skills including research data management and Excel
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in health-related field preferably health science research
Minimum two years’ experience with clinical research
Minimum of two years’ experience in a clinical environment
Experience with Outcomes platforms, Microsoft excel, and EPIC
Knowledge of, and experience with, NIH PROMIS
Experience with publication, research, statistics tools
Good working knowledge of medical terminology including human anatomy
Experience with SPSS, SAS, Stata and REDCap, Excel, EndNote (or other related software)
Experience with data use agreements (DUA)
Experience working in healthcare settings
Experience in the Laboratory setting such as specimen collection and handling
