Professional Research Assistant

Full-time position in the research lab of Susan Boackle, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology at the University of Colorado on the Anschutz Medical Campus. This laboratory studies the etiology and pathogenesis of systemic lupus erythematosus and other autoimmune diseases using mouse and human systems.

Responsibilities include:

1) performing biochemical, immunology, and molecular biology techniques; 2) maintaining cell lines in tissue culture; 3) screening mice for appropriate genotypes; 4) performing in vivo and in vitro experiments, keeping accurate records of results and calculating final data; 5) producing and purifying protein from tissue culture cells; 6) phlebotomy and processing of human blood samples; 7) coordination of human studies; 8) maintaining databases for mouse and human studies, 9) general laboratory upkeep; 10) occasional evening/weekend work.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. bachelor’s degree in the natural sciences

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. minimum of 1 year of research lab experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, RNA biology, or immunology (including undergraduate experience)

  2. experience with venipuncture

  3. experience with web-based tracking systems, Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and barcoded tracking systems
