The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Infectious Disease has an opening for 4 full-time (unclassified) Professional Research Assistant ( Clinical Research Coordinator) positions.

Nature of Work:

At Children's Hospital Immunodeficiency Program

(CHiP) we have a clear vision to be a place where a diverse mix of talented

all of our care. The Clinical Research Coordinator provides research

expertise and supports the CHIP research program specializing in HIV

treatment and prevention, childhood vaccine research and studies related

to COVID-19 treatment and prevention. This includes study

implementation, data collection and submission in a timely and accurate

manner. Maintaining a quality assurance program that keeps CHIP

research efforts in excellent standing with national and local monitoring


Examples of Work Performed:

Research Coordination

  • Collaborate with PI and clinical team to identify and enroll eligible patients

to study and implement research studies

  • Conduct research visits in accordance with the protocol, including

recruiting, scheduling, preparing assessments, consenting, and

administering patient interviews

  • Complete research documentation utilizing medical records, lab

guidelines, protocol information and other resources for accurate

completion and submission of research records

  • Manage protocol changes as new information is released from sponsors

  • Enter data into research data base

  • Collaborate with ancillary clinical services within Children's Hospital

Colorado to fulfill protocol requirements

  • Establish procedures, databases, and filing systems to ensure

appropriate recordkeeping

  • Work with CHIP team to identify and submit adverse event reports to

study team, sponsor, and IRB within designated timeframes

  • Develop SOPs as needed

  • Other duties as assigned

Quality Assurance

  • Organize, conduct, and maintain responsibility for QA procedures

  • Respond to sponsor queries for research data records in requested time

  • Validate quality of data elements/data editing

  • Assist in preparation for site monitor visits.

  • Ensure accurate and complete informed consent process and tracking

  • Maintain regulatory files including protocol files, informed consents and

other materials as required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Ability to start within 1-2 weeks of offer

  • Completion of CITI Human Subject Research (HSR) Good Clinical

Practice (GCP) before start date

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must successfully pass a 10-panel drug test through Children's Hospital


  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal and sex-offender

background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years or more experience in clinical research coordination

  • Phlebotomy certified

  • Spanish speaking

  • Familiarity with multi-center trials

  • Experience working with databases

  • Knowledge of HIV disease and treatment

  • Experience conducting vaccine trials

  • Experience with Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions


  • Candidate must feel comfortable working with the diverse population the

CHIP clinic serves

  • Candidate must feel comfortable with face to face contact with

participants at higher risk of infectious diseases like COVID-19 and be

willing to follow local PPE guidelines

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)

  • Ability to work independently, within a strong team environment

  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, often under time pressures

  • Attention to detail a must as well as ability to accurately prioritize


  • Excellent ability to support one another using good communication skills

and implementing healthy team dynamics

  • Proficient in computer software applications such as Microsoft Excel,

Word, and PowerPoint
