University Of Colorado Medicine Patient Affairs Coordinator - Cardiothoracic Surgery in Aurora, Colorado

CU Medicine is dedicated to providing healthcare and administrative supportto the University Of Colorado School Of Medicine's nearly 3,000 providers.We are seeking a highly motivated Patient Affairs Coordinator to join our teamand support the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery.The Patient Affairs Coordinator will provide administrative support tophysicians as it relates to the management of day to day interactions with ourpatient population within the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery and willperform a broad spectrum of duties related to the effective and efficientoverall function of the Division. The individual in this position will serveas a liaison between the patient and the physician for all non-clinical issuesand will coordinate the day to day calendars and logistics for assignedphysicians. The Patient Affairs Coordinator will manage the surgicalappointment schedule for assigned physicians including scheduling surgicalprocedures and clinic appointments, performing high level administrativeduties, completing referral/authorization checks, answering patientcalls etc. Obtain and upload all necessary documents and lab results topatient records prior to appointments and surgery. Triage and coordinatepatient referrals from community and affiliate providers. Respond to specialpatient requests. Schedule and/or attend various meetings to facilitatecommunication of key information regarding patient scheduling or otheractivities related to the accomplishment of the Division's clinicalactivities. Generate various types of correspondence and distribute topatients and referring physicians as directed. Call and confirm upcomingpatient appointments. Provide cross-coverage as required for other officeadministrative roles. Perform other duties and assist with special projects asassigned by the Division Manager.Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years'experience in a health-care setting including exposure to complex patientscheduling in an electronic medical record system; bachelor's degreeand/or EPIC experience is highly preferred. Must demonstrate expertise withvarious computer programs including all MS Office Suite applications. Highlevel verbal and written communication in conjunction with professionaltelephone etiquette is essential. Must have superior editing and writingabilities suitable for academic standards. Exceptional customer serviceskills with the ability to maintain a positive attitude at all times and workwith diversified customer clientele is required. Must be flexible and capableof handling multiple and shifting priorities. The ability to handle sensitiveinformation in a confidential manner is required. Must demonstrate theability to act independently, have excellent interpersonal skills, and beable to maintain positive working relationships.
