POSITION SUMMARY: The Mental Health Technician II is cognizant of and has concern for thosefactors that ensure a safe and effective environment for psychiatric patients.The Mental Health Technician performs assigned tasks and activities accordingto skill level and patient needs as assessed by the Charge Nurse, NurseManager, and Lead MHT. In addition, the Technician will have a basicunderstanding of the behaviors of the psychiatric patient and an ability tointeract in a therapeutic manner. The Technician will function as a member ofthe treatment team and accept responsibilities for specifically assignedduties such as patient observation rounds, suicide risk observation,management of the milieu, assisting with behavior modification programs andcare of patient's daily activities and needs. The MHT will provide goal andwrap up groups daily. The MHT will complete routine vital sign checks,orient the patient to the unit and search and catalog patient belongings. TheMHT demonstrates knowledge of regulatory laws as it relates to the care of thementally ill.
