The University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus seeks a Center Administrator, a full-time university (unclassified) position, to work at the Center for Global Health (CGH) CU Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. Nature of the Work:

The Center for Global Health (CGH), has an opportunity for a full-time Exempt Professional Center Administrator Manager. The Center Administrator Manager is an integral member of the CGH and a part of the Center’s Management Team. He/she works directly with the Director of the CGH, to administer all operational aspects of the CGH that includes the primary responsibility for the development and management of the budget and financials, Human Resources, HCM and funding. He/she will be responsible for the day-to-day management Center administrative areas oversight of procurement and purchasing, and will play a major role in proactively anticipating issues/problems, suggesting a range of options with an analysis of advantages and disadvantages to assist the Director with recommended solutions.

Functions include institutional research, statistical analysis, policy development and review, strategic planning and broad unit business operations such as parking and transportation services, risk management, childcare services, real estate and property management, retail services or job responsibilities that combine fiscal, HR and operational management responsibilities.

Managers are responsible for the day-to-day operation of functional work units, including the development and implementation of processes consistent with college, school or departmental strategies and processes and the supervision of professional and support staff.

Examples of Work Performed:

This position requires a large degree of independent action. This position is charged with all budgetary and fiscal management including pre and post grant award budget preparation and monitoring, ensuring all activities and operations fall within the monetary guides set forth. The person in this position will work with the CGH Director to establish these guides and budgets. The person in this position is charged with maintaining that all personnel policies are adhered to, as well as hiring, pay procedures, space and operational procedures and serves as the liaison between the CGH and international projects, various entities on all UC campuses and in the community. Specific duties include.

  • Work closely with the Colorado School of Public Health (CSPH) and Department of Pediatrics Human Resources and Payroll & Benefit Services to ensure that CGH HR needs are met; manage all payroll functions and personnel actions for faculty and staff; oversee appropriate personnel records (e.g. vacation, sick leave); and monitor performance evaluation activities.

  • Serve as the CGH search coordinator to recruit and hire PRAs and staff for the various programs within the CGH and at international locations, working directly with the CSPH, UCD Human Resources and our international partners.

  • Serve as the CGH administrator managing the assignment and accurate inventory of all space within the suite, badge access, parking and maintenance.

  • Manage the CGH lease and payments via the UCD Office of Space and Asset management and the CSPH.

  • Supervise staff: program coordinator, student workers, interns and volunteers.

  • Advise Director and CGH Executive Committee on operational matters and implement the decisions made by the Executive Committee with regard to these matters.

  • Participate in strategic planning activities for administrative, developmental and research activities.

  • Ensure consistent communication and coordination of research activities and develop recommendations for issues across the CGH research projects around the globe.

  • Serve as a member of the CSPH Administrator’s Committee to represent the CGH concerns.

  • Provide ongoing consultation in all areas of the budgets, in particular the area of personnel compensation to writing grant applications and the development of their budgets.

  • Assist the CGH and Faculty with preparation of new and renewal applications for CGH grants, agreements and subcontracts and memorandums of understanding with international collaborators.

  • Develop and sustain standardized travel procedures across the projects in their international travel ensuring they are in compliance with UCD policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for all publications, official communications and marketing related to the Center. Orchestrates the CGH newsletter.

  • Coordinate student activities and organize multi-day and multi-week courses here and international locations

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this full-time position has been established at $54,603 to $70,000 and is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for full benefits.

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, business administration, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

The position requires extensive, diverse and progressively responsible experience at the management level, including direct responsibility for managing an executive office, managing staff and effectively overseeing complex tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA in relative field or equivalent degree

  • Minimum of four years professional level management experience within a complex health related research setting with a preference for an environment like that at the Anschutz Medical Campus.
